Having mucus in your throat is probably one of the most annoying feelings ever. It’s just sitting there with no apparent use other than bothering you.
Fortunately, you can get rid of it quite quickly. All you need to do is follow some of these tips—or all of them—and you’ll easily get rid of that annoying mucus in the back of your throat.
9. Staying Well Hydrated by Drinking Water Regularly
Drinking water regularly will help to thin the mucus in your throat. In addition, keeping your body well hydrated helps to clear the mucus and phlegm. For this reason, and the many other benefits of drinking water, it’s always recommended to stay well hydrated when having a cold because the water in the body will keep your airways and sinuses clear. As a result, you will have much less mucus in your throat and feel better overall.
8. Try to Use Peppermint
You can loosen and get rid of the thin layer of mucus and phlegm in the back of your throat by using peppermint. More specifically, the menthol found in peppermint.
Because of this, many people recommend that you drink tea prepared with peppermint leaves, which will clear any layer of mucus you might have.
In addition, you can also add peppermint oil when trying steam inhalation (more on that in just a moment), as this also quickly removes the mucus. However, keep in mind that this option is only recommended for adults, as it can become harmful if children inhale it.
