2. 2018: The Lancet

Red Wine

Research published in a 2018 Lancet issue found that drinking five glasses of wine a week was the estimated threshold for most people to avoid a higher risk of stroke, heart failure, or death. Drinking high levels of alcohol were comparable to the health effects of smoking. Consuming more wine than the recommended five glasses a week could even reduce life expectancy by roughly two years.

1. Is Wine Good or Bad for You?

Bad Wine

Is drinking one glass of wine each day good or bad for you? You probably already know the answer. Johns Hopkins Medicine encourages people to avoid high alcohol consumption due to adverse health effects like obesity, high blood pressure, stroke, and heart failure. When drinking alcohol, it’s best consumed in moderation or in small amounts. As with most things in life, too much of a good thing can turn out to be bad.
