It has been confirmed by researchers that eating breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper can help you lose weight.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. According to a new study by Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center reveals that eating your meals at certain times of the day can help to kick-start your weight loss more effectively.

After gathering info on nearly 50,000 participants from an Adventist health study, researchers were able to pinpoint four factors that could be linked to lowering your BMI: “eating only one or two meals per day, maintaining an overnight fast of up to 18 hours; eating breakfast instead of skipping it; and making breakfast or lunch the largest meal of the day,” where eating a big breakfast as opposed to a large lunch resulted in a more significant decrease in weight.

Given these intermittent fasting type strategies that may be a challenge for many, Hana Kahleoba, MD, Ph.D., recommends eating breakfast and lunch rather than dinner and steering clear from snacking during the day. As it turns out, two factors linked to a higher BMI were eating more than three times a day (with snacks being considered as meals) as well as making dinner the largest meal.
