8. Sunny-Side Up Eggs
Eggs can be prepared sunny-side-up in your microwave in just seconds. To enjoy a hot breakfast in record time, first spray a microwave-safe plate with cooking spray. Next, crack an egg onto the plate. Then, lightly prick the egg yolk with a fork or the tip of a knife. Pop it into the microwave and microwave on high for 45 seconds. If you worry your egg yolk appears too runny, cut into it with a fork and you just might discover that it is perfectly done.
7. Soft Cooked Eggs
The Egg Farmers of Alberta website shares a recipe for making soft cooked eggs in the microwave in under one minute. To follow their recommendations, first spray a small mug with cooking spray and sprinkle with salt. Crack an egg into the mug and pierce both the egg and the white several times to prevent an egg explosion during the cooking process. Cover the mug with plastic wrap, pulling back a small section to allow steam to vent. Place the mug in your microwave and cook on high for 30 seconds. Allow the cooked egg to stand for an additional 30 seconds before removing the plastic wrap. If your egg requires more cooking time, flip it over, cover and microwave for an additional 10 seconds as needed.
6. Hard Cooked Eggs
If you prefer hard cooked eggs, the Egg Farmers of Alberta have you covered. Follow the same directions for soft cooked eggs by cracking an egg into a mug or ramekin you have coated with cooking spray and sprinkled with salt. Pierce the egg and yolk several times and cover with a sheet of plastic wrap with a section pulled back for venting. For hard cooked eggs, you will want to microwave on high for 40 seconds. Wait an additional 30 seconds before pulling back the plastic wrap to test for doneness. If your egg requires extra cooking time, flip it over in the mug and microwave for an additional 10 seconds.Related: 8 Methods to Make Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs Easier
