A nationwide survey by Erie Insurance polled homeowners to find out which features they wished their homes had and which they wish they had gone without. Before you worry that homeownership brings nothing but worry and regret, it is important to note that 53% of the people surveyed are happy and content with their homes. You may be preparing to build or buy a new home. If so, the results of this survey may give you food for thought as you ponder which features are must-haves in your new home.
11. Yes: Walk-In Pantry
The survey found that 30.2% of the homeowners they polled wished their home contained a walk-in pantry. It is easy to see why so many people would want to have this luxury space in their homes. A walk-in pantry allows you to store away your kitchen goods behind just one door. Then, when you need canned or dried goods, you can simply step inside to survey your options. If you are a homeowner currently suffering from pantry envy, you may want to consider beefing up your kitchen storage space with a kitchen pantry armoire.
10. No: Hardwood Floors
The Erie Insurance survey found that 9.2% of homeowners with hardwood floors are dissatisfied with this choice. Hardwood floors have a timeless beauty and have been popular floor surfaces for many generations. Drawbacks to hardwood floors may be cold feet in the winter if you live in a chilly climate. Hardwood floors are also susceptible to scratches if you are not careful when moving furniture. Furthermore, running in socks on a slippery wooden floor can result in falls.
