Although technological advancements have made it possible to flash freeze in order to lock in nutrients and freshness, and modern freezers allow for more efficient storage, it’s worth considering if these foods are better for us to consume. Breaded food used to contain a number of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. While better than it once was, processed breaded food still contains added salt and sugar, raising agents, E numbers and palm oil. Keep in mind that the cheaper the product, the more likely it is to have these unwelcome extra ingredients. Instead of buying breaded frozen fish, try to buy frozen protein and defrost and crumb in the comfort of your own home using stale bread whizzed in a food processor.
