Everybody needs a little rice in their life. Brown rice is considered one of the healthiest if not the healthiest in the bunch. We’ve found a recipe that ensures that you can cook brown rice with the same quality inconsistency every single time. It uses a little bit of butter, so if you want to try to find a healthier substitute for that, that will work as well. This recipe takes about an hour to make, serves 6, and is just 200 calories.   • 1.5 cups of brown rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cups boiling water


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Place rice, salt, and butter in a casserole dish that has a cover. Pour boiling water over rice; stir.
  3. Cover and bake in preheated oven until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender, about 1 hour. Remove from oven, fluff with fork, and serve hot.
